What a week!! My neice and nephew (and later my sister-in-law) came to spend some time at the grandparent’s house. In turn, they had to hang out with us as well! BUT, I don’t think they minded.

Garage sales, homemade ice cream (or ice bean as that darling little girl calls it), tents in the house, fun with cousins, riding bikes, walking dogs, walking each other as pretend dogs, singing “Row, row, row your boat”, creating new words to the previous song, watching movies, sorting through treasures, sorting through junk, baseball in the backyard, barbequed chicken, and corn on the cob. All the fun of summer packed into one short (and long) week.

Abu

Abu. Given this name because her favorite way to play with B is to stare into his face and say, “Ah boo, Ah boo, AH Booooooo”

To finish off the week we had a baby shower for my other sister-in-law. I’m not much for party planning but once I got started I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Below is a sample of the invitations I made, each being slightly different as no two sails were the same.  Lifesavers, seashells, and fishing net added to the decoration while each person in attendance wrote a message to baby or mother and then folded them into their own little origami sailboat (seen below). The guest of honor (of which I have no posed picture. what a good co-hostess!) can be seen here. Isn’t she looking cute? Now it is just a waiting game on this new little baby!

Not the greatest picture ever taken…but priceless nonetheless.

Peanut Butter and…

July 29, 2009

pickle sandwich!

Would you believe that I heard about this on the radio tonight? No joke! I’ve never met anyone outside of my family who eats these things.

For those of you who haven’t been exposed to the full array of quirks that make me just who I am, let me tell you this is one of my favorites. Again, no joke!

Wipe the disgust from your face and just try it. Peanut butter spread across your favorite loaf, a dill pickle wedge smack in the center, and bread folded up on both ends as if it were housing your favorite frank. MMmmm.

Try it, will you? Then, let me know what you think.

Oh, and fess up to your favorite food combos!

Peripheral Vision

July 26, 2009

I stand in the hallway, where the two doorways meet.

Looking one direction I see my baby sleeping soundly. I can hardly take my eyes off of him.

DSC05399

But I do. Because looking the other direction I see my love sound asleep. And I can hardly take my eyes off of him.

I am joyfully humbled because I know I am undeservedly blessed.

Hidden Treasures

July 14, 2009

My parents just returned from vacationing in beautiful Colorado with several of my mom’s siblings. Apart from the countless stories, there were also countless pictures (actually, they weren’t countless…there were only 1177…my bad!). However, much to their surprise and mine, these found their way into the mix as well. These are pictures of me and my siblings from two years ago. We NEVER get pictures together, let alone good ones, so you can imagine how excited I was to see them!

#2

#3yeah, those are bunny ears.

again with the ears!

#5K and me, for good measure!

And for your humorous imagination/math exercise for today I want you to picture this vacation…4 sisters driving 16+ hours in a van across the midwest. Are you seeing some humor? Okay, then imagine if all of the women were crazy* (Funnier, right?). Now put the same women in the same van, add another, add 1 man, multiply by a mountain or two, divide by fear of heights and add a healthy dose of anxiety and you have the equation for a sweet episode of reality tv! Oh how I wish it was documented!

*To my mom and aunts: I don’t really think you are crazy. It just makes for a better story. 😉 (wink, wink)

I think I always suspected it, but now I am certain. This is my favorite of his outfits!

This and That

July 9, 2009

My Birthday went a little something like this.

DSC05296

This is Me. This was my birthday.

DSC05295

This is my love. This was not his birthday.

Picnic

This is where my sweet husband took me for my birthday. This is the park. This is where we had our picnic. This is how beautiful it was.

DSC05287

This is what we packed. This is a chicken salad sandwich with spinach. This is YUMMY (as seen by the bite marks…sorry)!

DSC05293

This is the momma duck and her ducklings we saw as we were leaving the park.

This is very cute.

And that was my birthday!

Well, that and a few other things. Like…ice cream, a long drive, and a new computer.

But that was my favorite part!!

Summer Days

July 8, 2009

We’ve been spending our days enjoying the weather. Sprawled out on a blanket under the big maple with the summer breeze keeping us good company!

Many Faces

And here is one of my favorites of him. Complete with tongue and those beautiful baby blues!

Rojo, Blanco, y Azul

July 5, 2009

If I remember right from my freshman year of high school, that right there translates into good old red, white, and blue. Impressive, I know. I’m pretty much bilingual!

Anyway, we drove to Indianapolis this weekend to see some of the fam. Dr. and Mrs. Shake first, JenB second, and topping off the night with K’s family. It was a soggy sort of day, but great fun nonetheless what with spinning ping pong, picture taking, and a big gender reveal (of B’s new cousin). Oh, and I almost forgot, FIREWORKS!!!
